Q: What is this site ???
A: This site is a Web Interface to a Medical
Database. The database contains spirometry and oxymetry test data,
transmitted by patients from their home.
Q: Who should use this site?
A: This site is dedicated to doctors, specifically
to pulmonology specialists.
Q: How can I get access to the system?
A:The system is in testing phase. Please
contact Medical International Research headquarters to partecipate
in the test. Send an e-mail to: register@spirometry.com
Q: How can I get in ?
A: When you receive your login name and password,
you may enter the system by using the "User's Area" form.
Q: What kind of data can I access in this system ?
A: At the moment you can access only raw
medical data contained in the database, that is, you may download
raw medical information for later interpretation using a software
called winspiroPRO.
Q: What type of medical data is contained ?
A: At the moment, two types of medical data
are available: Spirometry and Oxymetry.
Q: After logging in, do I have access to all data in the system?
Can other doctors see my work ?
A: After successful authentication, you may
see only data that is allocated to you. In other words you can see
only the test data of the patients who “belong” to you.
Other doctors cannot see your work, as you cannot see other doctors'
work.
Q: How do I actually obtain any medical data?
A: You may select medical files to download
from the site. After selection you may download them in a single
bundle. Alternatively, you may download the files one-by-one.
Q: How do I select the data I need ?
A: The system provides you with a range of
selection methods: You may download only new files that you have
not yet seen; you may use a range of search methods to obtain medical
data based on Date, Patient, or Comments, or you may simply browse
all medical records in the system.
Q: I downloaded a file and saved it on my computer. I cannot find
it any more so I would like to download the same file again. But
it is not where I found it last time. What can I do?
A: After you have downloaded a file once,
the system notes that is it not “new” any more. Click
on "Display all records" to see all records, not only
the new ones.
Q: What is a "Comment" ? What is it for ?
A: You may associate comments with Medical
Records or Medical Devices. The purpose of a comment for a Medical
Device is to associate it to a patient. Since this on-line system
should not store personal data about patients (for privacy reasons),
you need to identify each patient by using some classified information.
Comments for Medical Records serve healthcare bureauctratic purposes,
or as a bookmark to help finding a record later.
Q: How long does the system store Medical Records?
A: In theory, the system will store medical
records forever. All data is backed up regularly and we make every
effort to maintain system security and functionality. However, we
take no responsibility for records which are older than 90
days. (After 90 days, the records are not available through
the web interface)
Q: After logging in, can I work for as long as I like ? Is there
any limitation?
A: If you work continuously, you may proceed
for as long as you wish. However, the system will log you off in
case of a long period with no activity. In the first step, you may
continue your work just by typing in your password again, but if
you do not insert your password in a short time, the system will
completely log you off and you will need to start again.
Q: I successfully downloaded a number of Medical Record Files to
my computer. I have the winspiroPRO software installed on another
PC. How can I interprete the files?
A: You may copy the Medical Record Files
to any data medium (e.g. a floppy disk), and transfer them to the
other computer where winspiroPRO is installed. Then you may use
the "Data Receive" functionality of winspiroPRO to import
the data.
Q: What is "HTTPS" ? Why is it better than "HTTP"
?
A: This service is available by using a protected
channel, that is Secure HTTP. By using this protocol, information
is protected from Internet "sniffers" that may otherwise
be able to record passwords, etc.
